Abstract: The factors underlying exceptionally poor child health in remote Australian Indigenous communities are complex.  There is a lack of consistent and reliable information that allows: a) the identification of priorities and identification of areas of particular need; b) monitoring progress over time; and c) the assessment of the impact of interventions. This paper reports on a participatory approach for the development of indicators for application within a quality improvement framework for child health.
