Abstract: Professor Fortunato Cristobal is the Founding Dean of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University School of Medicine in Mindanao, Philippines. This School was developed with a radical vision to create a home-grown health workforce for this under served and war-torn region. These innovations are now being shared with other countries especially in Southeast Asia. He will be joined by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Nusa Cendana, West Timor.

Currently Prof Cristobal is the Chairman of the Paediatric Department of the Zamboanga City Medical Centre and a Fellow of the Philippine Paediatric Society.
